THE FOREIGN RETURNS/THE FOREIGN SETTLES!!!!

Wow!!! Crayons,coloring pencils , cuddle toys , coloring books , building blocks , satin gowns and other sundry items...These were gifts from my cousins during their bivouacs in India , who left to the USA , even before I could realise what the world is all about!!! Their families rejoiced during their infrequent visits to India , and so did I..!!!! Were'nt their gifts alluring ???? Even as I grew up these gifts continued..but only the crayons and coloring pencils were replaced by pens and erasers , cuddle toys by cosmetics , building blocks by video games and satin gowns by jeans and t-shirts...!!!!
I watched these alien cousins being extolled by relatives and friends , treated as luminaries and themselves with twisted accents and becoming overly fussy..a syndrome exhibited by most foreign returns ( or foreign settles ). Yeah , " FOREIGN RETURNS " , the Indian coined terminology for any Indian returning from the USA ( or any other moneymaking country ).
Parents often set these people as " PARADIGMS OF PERFECTION", in the sense they hold a degree from a prestigious foreign institution and make big monney..!!! Even I have noticed in some cases , where a bride is often called as " LUCKY " , when she gets to marry a foreign settled groom..weird and stupid..!!!!
Over the years , going to the USA has become a RITUAL in many Indian families..!!! But I could never imagine myself being on of them. "A normal galll , with not much ambition , who even promised herself that she would stop studying sooon after she completes her Bachelor of Engineering ". But now am typing this blog on my way to Australia, yup am gonna pursue my masters and will be off from India for another two years.
I decided this when I got fed up mugging up theories , copying assignments , last minute project work and of course fearing revengeful teachers...!!!!But unlike my cousins I have chosen the less opted path asusal..AUSTRALIA !!!!

And now....Should I call myself as fortunate or unfortunate..??? Cozz nowadays people have turned indifferent towards these foreign returns..!!!! lolzzzz!!!!
